Speed is depends on network if EDGE tower is near from your area then you will receive Nice speed. GPRS speed never constant it's always fluctuated.
Using a GPRS enabled Handset you will get Downloading speed 3-12 kbps and connecting speed around 30kbps-48 kbps
If you are using EDGE enabled handset and EDGE tower is near then
you will get Downloading speed 6-28 kbps
and connecting speed around 60-230 kbps
at night ie 11pm-6am you will get above 10kbps as downloading speed for GPRS mobile
and above 18kps for Edge mobile

I got maximum speed at 35kbps on EDGE network on my nokia 3120 classic in early morning to 10am... Nd the tower distance from my house is just 200 meters but whole day it is not much than 2-4 kbps almost connectivity is really hectic on using operamini or any application on socket connection bcoz every time click on link we get balance inquiry on screen automatically... Some times data transfer stops completly nd after exiting browser connection still connected nd difficult to disconnect. But the service they are providing is very cheap on price.
